Abstract: | Hydro-acoustic equipment was applied for fishery resource survey in coastal areas. The hardware and software systems for data collection were developed at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Japan. This equipment was conducted by using FURUNO GPS Plotter model GP-1670F. It is equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and chart plotter system. It is also equipped with echo-sounder with operated on 50 kHz and 200 kHz simultaneously. The testing of hydro-acoustic equipments and systems for coastal areas were conducted at Tateyama Bay, Chiba Prefectures, Japan in October 2012 and at Rayong Bay, Rayong province, Thailand in March and October 2013. The GPS Plotter operation could be display the boat position, cruising track, speed and direction, and echogram for 50 and 200 kHz simultaneously. The returned echo signal of 50 kHz imported to hydro-acoustic data collection system was amplified, filled, display and recorded on a personal computer (PC). The recorded data from Rayong bay survey, it was found that the pulse of transmission line from transducer face to 2.9 m depth (76 data). This data have to be deleted from calculation since there are strong noise down to 2.9 m below sea surface. It means that the surface layer of 2.9 m below sea surface and 1 m above bottom have to be deleted from the estimated fishery resources. In case of the shallow area with water depth around 9 m, the rest of water column for calculating had only 5.1 m. The limited volume or depth of water would be affected to estimation of the fishery resources calculation. Then, the software should be amplified and improved the limited depth for sharp quantity and quality of data. |
